Okay so I can't get over how ABSOLUTELY TRAGIC some of the MLP G4 episodes are.
Take The Perfect Pear for example (spoiler warning from here!)
SO
What stuck with me the most is the moment where Grand Pear forced her daughter - Pear Butter to choose between her family which she does in fact love and wants to be with despite everything, as it was told in the meantime in the episde, and her special somepony with whom she's madly in love with and got married literally about 20 seconds ago.
But he's like: No, we hate Apples, it's us or them, Choose. Right now.
Now put yourself in her place. You see how messed up this is, how absolutely TRAGIC it is?
But that's not all, oh no no no.
She stayed with Apples. Grand Pear left, and came back to ponyville to make amends only during the show - years later.
Now we are stepping onto the speculation grounds, so it's kinda what you want to believe, however my take is:
Do you now see how tragic of a story they put in this "kids" show? This is insane.
It is stated in the episode that Grand Pear lived in ponyville and came back after years, which means he wasn't there all those years. He spent them all in Vanhoover. Which might mean that the argument was his LAST interaction with his daughter before she passed away, because as far as I remember Lauren Faust did in fact confirm that Bright Mac and Pear Butter passed away.
He never got to make amends, to apologize to her and get reunited. She migh have passed away thinking her father hates her, for betraying him.
AND YET THERE'S STILL MORE
Now get this
It is possible that all those years Pears completely cut themselves away from Apples, and exchanged no information at all. You see where im going with this?
I think it might be fair to assume that Grand Pear, after all those years, when he finally decided to make amends with her daughter and son in law as well as the rest of the Apple side of the family, came to Ponyville...
Only to learn that his daughter is long G O N E
This kids show.

Friendship is retred; A bunch of fluffy headcanons about if I ran the Friendship is Magic show.
I can't say/speak much about all I'd do for FiM seasons 4-9 (and by extension gen 5) if I were incharge. I only know this:
Twilight Sparkle DOESN'T change into an alicorn princess until the end of season 7; she graduates from Celestia's underling in season 3 and the big 'life in Equestria' number that ends that season has Twilight being crowned the minister of friendship.
The CMC still become friends with Diamond Tiara but they DON'T get their own cutie marks till season 7, right before Twilight's princess-ing.
Season 7 happens AFTER the events of the movie.
Cadence and Flurry Heart are not alicorns. Flurry is born an alicorn by fluke at the beginning of season 6 but she's 'cured' and becomes a pegasus like her mother, Cadence.
Starlight is still able to perform magic (or rather, use other people's magic skills to her advantage) but her whole thing is that she doesn't have nor ever earn a cutie mark throughout the show and she comes to terms with being happy about that. Her realizing this with the CMC's help is what gives the CMC their cutie marks.
Sombra and Stygian are the same character.
NO Starswirl and his pals especially not timetraveling. They were guardians of harmony but they never became true friends and they're the reason Stygian/Sombra turned out the way he did.
Twilight's reeling Stygian out of the pony of shadows, undoing the damage Starswirl did, is what leads to her becoming an alicorn.
Celestia took on Tirek+Scorpan and Sombra by herself; Luna was still stuck in the moon and Tirek's imprisonment and the Crystal Empire's fall did NOT happen exactly 1,000 years ago. Because she had to do so with just elements by her side and not her sister is why she was not powerful enough but the Mane 6 are- also shows you just how busy sunhorse is.
Season 4 is basically Discord's season. All the Discord-centric episodes in s5, 6 and so on happen in season 4, replacing the pointlessness that is 'Three's a Crowd'. Discord appears in all of the mane six's (sans Fluttershy's) 'key' episodes where he taunts them just like he did in his debut. He appears though in 'Filli Vanilli' taking Pinkie's role from that episode being toxiclly supportive of his 'one friend', which fits more with Discord's character than it does Pinkie. This is important because...
...in the finale of s4, Discord does his betrayal of the ponies but then gets backstabbed by Tirek and looses his draconequus powers; which he never gets back for the rest of the show.
The season 4 finale has Luna and Celestia transfer their magic/essence into the tree of harmony for safe keeping, not into Twilight. Celestia sent Discord to ponyville to help the pones and he does eventually do so by aiding them in defeating Tirek, but not before his betrayal. Really play back and forth with the audience if Discord truly is a friend to Fluttershy or to anybody else (spoilers, he is).
Season 8 and the school of magic begins with a timeskip- where the now older CMC and Twilight welcoming in the Young Six, who include Flurry Heart.
Cozy Glow is just Queen Chrysalis, come in to disrupt the youth of Equestria and end the woke-isms after they took away her power over the changelings.
Oh yeah also Thorax and the reformed changelings look like this and their true form is deerbugbirds, not over designed bug ponies.
This one's probably the darkest-- In the final season, Celestia is growing weaker and weaker and her and Luna's final act for their people is sacrificing themselves to buy Twilight sum time. Same with Discord; he and Starlight team up to trick Tirek and Chrysalis and Discord dies for his sins. IT'S OKAY THO-
-Celestia and Luna come back as their pre alicorn-selves; Discord comes back as a worm-thing which Fluttershy adopts as one of her pets...okay maybe I'll change that I swear I genuinely did not want to kill Fluttercord as a possibility...either way Discord comes back and Shy's happy.
Yes, there is an implication now that Twilight will be the only alicorn and have to eventually live without her friends. I'm going ahead with one of Faust's earlier ideas that Twilight would become Celestia's successor. Instead of being forlorn about this though, Twilight aims to look to the horizon.
oh and, since gen 5 is a sequel- that generation is called "My Little Pony and Friends" and Sunny and Scout are the only two ponies of the main group. The rest of the characters are yaks, deer, dragons. If we can't beat Them's Fightin Herds, then we shall become Them's Fightin Herds! Literally every kid wanted a more diverse pony horse range in their lives which is what made My Little Pony Friends and the Carebear Cousins so popular all these years later.
Absolutely no Dislestia though. This is a rewrite of what the show should* be not what I want it to be-- Celestia and Discord were always a crack pairing after my heart. Maybe they can star in one of the non-canon mlp comics. I would however have them interact more with Celestia hardcore shipping Fluttercord platonically and more.
Oh and more but also less Luna. Have her not make as many appearances before the pony public; that was and still is Celestia's job as an alicorn and Luna is not a social butterfly. She's got dreams to watchover and be her own stoic self.
LAST AND VERY IMPORTANTLY -the gen 5 ponies don't have those creepy Elsa faces. I know a lot of horse-people are angry at gen 4 for how they drew ponies, but I take that look to the monstrosity that is the new pony artstyle.
That's all. Maybe this is the continuity of an alt. timelines Friendship is Magic series. We can't visit that timeline though because Rick Sanchez ruined it for us and we're currently being killed by aliens.

haha wow doin stuff with Tavi really took like two hours huh. is she training me to finally get my sleep schedule back on track???
ok ok i probably got like an hour before she calls me back so I gotta get as much writing done in my diary as I can before... oh god.
I, Vinyl Scratch, am not turning into a nerd, am I?
no. no im not. no im just writing in my about what I'm doing because Tavi gave me the advice and I like it and it helps me realize more what im doing.
Ok ill write about the days that led up to me being in Canterlot, in Octavia's old bedroom (or in her bathroom right now), rebelling against her parents in the best! way!! POSSIBLE!!!!!!!
22th: i slept all day through this one bc even though a ton of the ponies from Pinkie's party left before 2 am like a buncha normies, and despite everything that can be going wrong and lame be happening doing, Pinkie, Berry, and a cool new mare I met called Derpy raved quite successfully with me until Berry's filly and Derpy's foals hadda go to school and we decided to just end the party. i woulda liked to have a party go on from night till noon though...
though considering the fact that I only barely woke up in time for me and Tavi to make our train to Canterlot, maybe it was for the best. not how i wanted to spend Luna's glorious night, packing feverishly so i could get on a train to get closer to the Jealous Sun, but it was inevitable.
tbh dont tell Tavi but I totally forgot that we were even going to Canterlot and meeting up with Lyra and Bon Bon. train ride was fine, but strangely (not in a bad way) Tavi was a lot more affectionate, which was weird at the time but makes a lot more sense what with what was gonna happen later on.
23th: we finally met Lyra and Bon Bon in Canterlot. feel pretty bad for Lyra, gottin to have to go back and forth and back and forth between Ponyville and Canterlot and tons of other places just to do her concerts or whatever. I guess I can relate since Tavi usually has to go to Canterlot a ton. while Im stuck in ponyville. gets lonely a lot. luckily we both somehow get the energy to send letters to each other every day were apart, but i live in fear of a day when that might stop. i mean, are we fillyfriends because of some temporary physical attraction or because of who we are?
anyway we were goin around out. I was chattin with Bon Bon bout liquor candies. I told her id hook her up with a nice mare if she'd attempt to make some. (Spoiler alert: she and nope im not going to spoil it, I'll just talk about it on the 24th day section). I noticed that Tavi and Lyra weren't talkin much and were acting all aloof and uptight and not at all affectionate and like the snooty Canterlotians but I chalked it up to them being natives.
that was until Bon Bon saw my face and told me that theres like....... a whole thing in Canterlot about being a fillyfooler. Apparently they still think that Celestia only wants couples of one mare and one stallion, for making more foals for her glory or something. well what the buck does that make me then???????????? what's so wrong about me being with Octavia, and then adopting a couple dozen fillies that need the love and attention instead of making some that didnt ask to be made?????? whatever. more proof that Luna is based and C celestia is cringe.
Also apparently Bon Bon didnt know that Lyra was a fillyfooler, which was something I was going to soon rectify. we had donuts at Donut Joe's yknow and then we went to a few fancy bistros for their bars. I got Lyra drunk enough to tell me that old story that she was only able to get into her place on the orchestra because she 'befriended' the mom of the old conductor Allegro Accelerando and threatened to become his second mom if he didnt put her on. Bon Bon was real impressed with all the graphic detail and I was laughing my flank off at both Lyra's funny as buck story and Bon Bon's honest reaction but Octavia was mortified that someone might overhear us and throw us out, not to mention our reputations and careers.
Well not that us Ponyville mares had anything to be afraid of but in the interest of making Tavi feel comfortable I felt that I should take Tavi back to her hotel room while stealthily suggesting Lyra's drunk flank take Bon Bon to her own >:)
but when we got to the room Octavia broke down in tears. it was frankly disturbing for myy marefriend who didnt even cry that much when i was in danger of being overdose on cocaine. shes just... usually so calm and reserved.
i asked what was wrong but she just told me to love her and keep loving her, she begged me to keep loving her and being with her for all time, but most of all, she begged me to never stop being me. So i just hugged her and put her on the couchbed andtold her that she needs some of the Berry Punch/Pinkie Pie Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster to giver her some rest and she just laughed and shook her head goodnaturedly and it looks like that calmed her down. the weed brownie i also got her to eat probably helped too
i was really concerned for her and i didnt really know what to do. i remember having a lot of trouble with why she was so sad, since it seemed to be something more than just the dislike of fillyfoolers in Canterlot. of course, i know now that it was because we had to meet her parents the next day.
24th: yeah so we woke up pretty early in the day (noon) and we had a couple hours before the necessary dinner date with Tavi's parents that she finally told me about and I convicned her to take me with her. We were gonna hang out with Lyra and Bon Bon more since the 23thrd was a blast and tons of fun but unfortuantely they were a little preoccupied at the moment.
Lyra was having some trouble with her record player in her room (;<
and Bon Bon was having to make some liquor candies for me >:)
so we just went to a Barns & Nobles a little bit and then hung out at a ma and pa book store/coffee place for a few hours. Octavia seemed much better, much less uptight and even willing to hug me in public. I still could read her like one of the books and I knew she was conflicted about something but I wanted to give her some time to get through it. well imagine my surprise when she leans over and kisses me right in front of a passing old mare!!!!!!! an old mare who blushed and ran away from the two of us.
I was immediately freaking out since she coudl like lose her job right?? but she puts a comforting hoof on my shoulder and says somethign that I cant remember at the moment because sweet loving Luna did I go to sleep at a horrible time last night (8. BUCKING. P.M.) But it was probably something about not wanting to hide who we are, especially to her parents.
Then we met her parents.
This is not a discussion for the diary.
We did not fight.
(but you better believe I whipped their flanks!!!)
25th: lol haha today (or I guess last night?????????) was a blast. we just basically, y'know went on a sUPER CUTE FILLYFOOLER DOUBLE DATE AND GJKASVJSLKFJDC
Tumblr media
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
dont make fun of my hoofdrawing skills im getting better also
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are we taking things too fast? I dont know if she's comfortable with it... I dont even know if me and Tavi are coming to the same conclusions. i mean nopony comes faster than Vinyl Scratch! . ok ok ok I just don't know if she's comfortable with it, I mean, she seems so uptight a lot of the time but that's just her, baby! Well. No, actually, she isnt' uptight once you get to know her but in the meantime... Though it seems like one part of her's not tight when I trot into the room! Hey-oh! i dont eeven know what that means.
ok ok ok ok.ok. So. Last night Tavi kinda maybe spilled the beans to Lyra and Bon Bon that... ok im not gonna put that in my journal cuz i feel like its memorable enough for me to remember and i dont want to take the chance that anyone actually reads these.
So idk idk i gotta discuss this with her tomorrow (OR LATER TODAY????)
fun fact: WERE DOING IT IN HER PARENTS HOUSE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ok bye i dont need sleep i need a mare

Welp... it’s over. After nine years, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is over. I just got done watching the series finale with Anthony and, just like I knew I would, when the credits rolled, I cried my eyes out
I should probably say something, huh. I’ve been sharing thoughts like this mostly on Twitter lately, but I started using Tumblr to blog about MLP, so I don’t think it would be right to post this anywhere else
I have a complicated relationship with MLP:FiM. It’s a show that got really hit or miss after the second season, and it has a fandom so toxic and so full of edgy libertarians that it scared me off from formally participating in fandoms for the rest of my life. But it’s also probably my favorite TV show of all time. There are other shows that are much better written, that have more to say, that are more consistent, even including several other cartoons from the same decade. But I think I’d be lying to myself if I said it wasn’t my favorite show
No other piece of media has had as massive of an impact on my life as My Little Pony
I grew closer to some of my closest high school friends because of our shared enthusiasm for the show. I started PonyPokey with Jake and Derek and made a bunch of bad videos and got invited to be on a wildly disorganized BronyCon panel with Jenny Nicholson in 2012. (We went on stage immediately after Lauren Faust’s panel. I barely said a word due to stage fright.)
After years of being too afraid to share my art online, I started putting more effort into learning digital art so that I could draw ponies. It started out rough, but with the drive to improve, I quickly got better. I started Fluttershy Replies. For the first time, I had an audience. I had people who cared about my work and supported me. Even as times have changed, many of you have been following me since way back then
Around the time I came out as bi in 2012, I got really into MLP shipping. Writing sappy comics and drawing sappy art became an outlet for my years of pent up feelings, and helped me sort out a lot of stuff. My Little Pony also completely changed the views on femininity that had been beaten into my skull since childhood. Suddenly, it wasn’t this strange, alien thing to be afraid of. MLP, at its heart, is a show about how there’s no wrong way to be a girl. That’s an incredibly powerful message. Rarity wasn’t a vapid snob. Fluttershy wasn’t a background character who got made into the butt of the joke. Pinkie wasn’t a ditz. These were characters written to be empathized with. And writing about my own feelings from the perspective of Fluttershy felt... right. It took me a few years to fully process those feelings, but eventually, I realized the truth. I was a trans woman. And a cartoon about horses was the first step on my path to realizing this
In 2013, one of the roughest years of my life, I decided to download RPG Maker on a whim to give myself a distraction. Naturally, my first instinct was to make a game where Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash kiss. What was initially supposed to be a short, Fantastic Game-esque playground of silly little jokes spiraled out of control and became Super Lesbian Horse RPG, a game that I poured my heart and soul into over the course of a year. And then, a couple years later, my desire to preserve the ideas from my copyright-infringing fangame also spiraled out of control, as all my creative projects do, and became SLHRPG’s successor: Super Lesbian Animal RPG. SLARPG isn’t really a reskinned MLP fangame anymore--it’s more like a new game inspired in part by my old project. The story has been drastically rewritten, the characters changed, the levels and gameplay redesigned. Most of the cast of the new game wasn’t in the original project in any form. There’s much, much, much, much, much more new content than old left in the game. And the original game had already strayed so far from the canon anyway. But I’m also not sure it would exist without MLP
I made a bunch of friends online, including close friends I still have to this day. I met the people like Bee and Thomas who I’m still working with on SLARPG. Most importantly, because we both blogged about MLP and had some mutual friends, I met Anthony, the love of my life. We’ve been together for five years now and supported each other through good times and bad. This is the lamest, corniest, stupidest thing I will ever say in my life, but he’s the Rainbow Dash to my Fluttershy
...
So what about the finale itself? (spoilers, obviously)
I have... mixed feelings on the finale. There were some things that really annoyed me in there. But also, like I said, I cried, so I think it’s safe to say they did good overall
I think the thing that stuck in my craw the most was Discord. Which I guess shouldn’t be surprising. I’ve been saying for years now how I hate Discord, how he spits in the face of everything the show stands for. He’s an obnoxious elderly manchild who constantly causes problems on purpose and torments his so-called friends the second they stop paying attention to him. But they have to put up with him and give him infinite second chances, because he’s a god and Celestia said they had to reform him
The overarching plot of the final season is that Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Tirek, and Cozy Glow (a Darla Dimple-esque filly villain from season 8) had teamed up with Grogar, a “new” villain taken from G1. While this goes on in the background, Twilight is making her preparations to become Celestia’s successor, as we’d known would be her destiny since the day she got wings six years ago. The villain team-up stuff was genuinely fun, and a highlight of the season for me. But then, in the three-part finale, it’s revealed that Grogar was actually Discord in disguise, and that he’d been intentionally trying to orchestrate a big attack on Twilight’s coronation so that she and her friends could save the day and get a big confidence boost going into her reign as princess. This is like... one of the most bafflingly stupid plot twist of all time. It’s literally the end of the show, and Discord has learned nothing. He’s “nice” now, but he’s still intentionally causing huge problems and putting everyone’s lives in danger to solve his problems. He freed four different villains they’d already defeated just so Twilight could beat them again, and in the process they literally blew up the goddamn castle in Canterlot and nearly killed everyone. And yet... they still forgive him, because they have to
I did, however, think that the last two-part adventure episode was fun overall. It tied a nice bow on much of the series, bringing back a bunch of old friends (including cameos from the movie cast!) to band together and save the day. Of course, in the end, they beat the bad guys with a big rainbow laser and sealed them in a statue. You know, even though a previous season finale was all about how solving their problems with a friendship laser and sealing the villains away never worked. Also, Cozy Glow might be evil, but she’s still literally a child? And now her petrified body is on display in the center of Canterlot? What the fuck????
I’m complaining a lot, but again. It was fun overall. It was nice to have one last big adventure, and to have the mane six reflect on how they’d grown since Twilight moved to Ponyville
...
And then we got the actual final episode. And boy did this one hit me HARD
I’m so glad that they ended on a quieter episode about the main cast’s friendships, because that’s what the show is actually about. The two-part adventures to save Equestria every season are fun, but that’s not the real show. We all came back every week for Twilight and her friends
There are things I can complain about here, too. Spike being a buff adult dragon with the voice of a child is fucked up. I’m still not used to seeing Twilight be Celestia’s size. But more than anything, I was always worried that we’d get a Harry Potter ending, where all the characters are paired off into arbitrary marriages so they can all have kids. Thankfully, this didn’t really happen. The only one who had a kid was Pinkie, who apparently got married to Cheese Sandwich (Weird Al’s character) at some point. Like, they literally shared two episodes together, with no hint of romance? But then they got married and had a kid off-screen??? What the fuck???? A lot of people also think that Fluttershy ended up with Discord, and I know I’m massively biased against that ship, but... I mean, they teased the FlutterCord shippers, but there wasn’t really any actual textual evidence that they were any closer than they had been previously. Y’all weirdos who ship Fluttershy with an obnoxious elderly man can interpret that as being “canon” if you want, I guess, but it’s not
The other relationship that shocked everyone in the finale was Applejack and Rainbow Dash, who... appear to be a couple? It’s definitely hinted at. I have... very, very mixed feelings about this. I mean, okay, obivously I’m the big FlutterDash fangirl. But I think AppleDash is cute, too! The problem is that, like... they’ve barely interacted in years? Like, they had a lot of episodes together in the first two seasons, but then the writers barely ever had them interact past that point. I can’t even remember when the last time we got an actual episode focusing on them was. And no, the one where Rainbow takes Granny Smith to pony Vegas doesn’t count
Like... yeah, it’s cute. It’s a nice gesture. Lyra and Bon Bon getting married in the background was also cute. But we can do so, so much better in 2019. We have so many explicitly canon lesbian couples in cartoons. Couples that actually kissed, or got married, or showed feelings for each other. Rainbow and AJ barely even fucking talked to each other in the final few seasons. I dunno, it just feels very hollow to me. Even the Equestria Girls crew admitting they were pushing RariJack felt more substantial to me, because at least they were given on-screen chemistry and lots of canon interaction
But in the end, complaints aside, the finale was about Twilight moving back to Canterlot, and worrying that her friendships would fade because of it. Honestly, I think this is what the finale of the show always would’ve been. It was the perfect story to end on. And boy, it hit really close to home
And then the last song happens, reflecting on how things have changed, but how they’re all still friends. And we see all the other friends they made along the way. And the camera zooms out, and the book from the opening of the very first episode closes, bringing the entire nine-year saga full circle
And then I started sobbing really hard in Anthony’s arms
...
I dunno. I just got done nitpicking a lot, but I still think that the last episode was a good and very emotional ending for the show
I’m going to miss this show dearly. I know it will be back in a new form, and that the leaks indicate that it’ll still star slightly different versions of the Mane Six. I’m also used to shows like this getting rebooted. Hasbro cartoons are honestly lucky to last past three seasons. FiM, on the other hand, got over 200 episodes, a theatrical film, a few specials, some shorts, a bunch of comics (which I still need to read), and a spinoff human AU series that was also really great. There’s no shortage of content, and I’m sure I’ll be returning to the series for years to come. I’m also glad that the show managed to go out on a high note
But still. It was a constant presence in my life for nearly nine years. Even as the quality got really hit or miss, even as they took the premise in strange directions, even as the crew of the show grew more and more dominated by men, it was still a show I could rely on to always be there, 26 episodes a year. I’ll miss it. I hope what comes next is just as good, if not even better. I also hope it’s gayer
I was going to end my ask blog, Fluttershy Replies, around the time the show ended. I’m not sure if I’ll do that just yet. I don’t know. I think that might be a bit much for me to process emotionally. Too many doors closing in my life in quick succession. But I do want to do more with it. These characters will be special to me for the rest of my life
I mean shit, I haven’t even drawn StarTrix yet. I’ve still got a lot of work to do with these horses, folks

Princess Twilight Sparkle and the Immortal Power of Friendship
Tumblr media
Well? Was it everything you hoped it would be? Or did you wish there was more after the book closed after this amazing show’s final song? Well, maybe there is.
It goes without saying that the 3 part finale to My Little Pony Friendship is Magic was an emotional ride, but one of the things I was most surprised to see in the final episode is how much Twilight has, grown. I caught glimpses of it while trying to dodge early spoilers, but I think it’s one of the things that stuck with the fan base. Twilight growing up into a, let’s call it a full alicorn, is something that’s been imagined by fans quite a bit over the years. After all Lauren Faust’s original vision for Twilight’s destiny was for her to become Celestia’s successor. And this season has been preparing us for this. So in a way this was inevitable. And it looks way more natural then I thought it would honestly. But with this new form for everypony’s favorite book horse comes a question that, isn’t new, but has resurfaced. Especially now seeing the rest of the Mane Six quite a bit older. Will Twilight outlive her friends?
Some people really don’t like the idea of Twilight becoming immortal or capable of living for over 1,000 years like her mentor. Since it would mean that she would rule and live on without her best friends. The ponies who set her on this path in the first place. Like she said at her first coronation back in “Magical Mystery Cure”, she wouldn’t have been standing there if it wasn’t for the friendships she made with all of them.
Tumblr media
And now that we got a glimpse of what the future looks like, and how everypony ages, and how some aren’t aging as fast as others, even thought the show never presents the possibility, it’s not a ridiculous conclusion to come to. And given how fans have interpreted what Twilight would be like not having her friends around her, I get how some might feel this is a dark revelation or even possibility. But “The Last Problem” does something brilliant with it’s time as a curtain call to both subtly and blatantly address this. And how the show’s legacy actually makes this theory of Twilight’s future more hopeful then mournful.
Part of this comes from the main plot of “The Last Problem”, where Twilight is scared that now that she won’t live in Ponyville, her friendships will fall apart and eventually fade away. Even if she is about to take a major step to accomplishing something wonderful, she’s terrified of losing what got her there in the first place, and what got her through every obstacle throughout the course of the series. And that’s okay. In the story it’s there to show that changes can be scary, and just because you’re afraid something will end, doesn’t mean it will. Or that whatever form it takes next when things do have to change, will be a bad one.
Tumblr media
You could argue that this is a way of assuring Twilight about her position as ruler. How to embrace change with high spirits even if it makes you sad or scared. Which leads me to the more subtle and more important message of “The Last Problem”, and how it sort of addresses Immortal Princess Twilight depending on how you look at it.
Tumblr media
As we look into the future of the Mane Six, we see that Twilight has taken on a student of her own, Luster Dawn. Who like Twilight so many moons ago, believed that friendship was pointless, and the best way to accomplish your goals was on your own. But Twilight shows Luster not only how she’s kept her friendship with the Mane Six alive despite how much things have changed, but how much friendship connects so many ponies and creatures together. An that if you work at it, that never stops.
Starswirl the Bearded and the Pillars showed how powerful ponies from all walks of life can be when they work together. The Mane Six showed how not only standing together, but taking the time to reach out, empathize and bridge gaps despite your differences can change lives. And the Student Six showed that that doesn’t just apply to Twilight and the girls. That any creature, even if they seem scary or mysterious, can become great friends. And that if you pass on the lessons that helped you grow into a better person, it can leave a great impact.
Tumblr media
Friendship and everything that comes with it, doesn’t begin and end with the Mane Six. This is something that the show felt like it was going for back in the early seasons, but I’d say ever since Starlight came around, the show has been making a conscious effort to show the reach of kindness, generosity, laughter, honesty, loyalty, and the magic that friendship brings. The final fight with Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow is proof of how powerful the Mane Six’s attempts to reach out and befriend every creature is. It manifested and took forms none of them could have predicted. Evolving into this Avengers style entrance. And this is why Twilight’s theoretical immortality is not as grim as most might have thought.
Tumblr media
Will Twilight outlive the Mane Five? It’s not clear, but it’s certainly likely. Will she outlive their friendship? Absolutely not. The final song shows just how much the Mane Six have effected since the series began. How many lives they’ve touched. How many creatures they’ve brought together. And how much those ideals will continue to spread as the creatures they befriended grow and pass their lessons on to the next generation.
Tumblr media
Twilight ruling all of Equestria is probably one of the most optimistic conclusions the show could have had. Because despite the implications of what that means, no matter how long she reigns for, there’s no doubt that Twilight will work tirelessly to make sure those morals are upheld. That creatures of all kinds will continue to bond and talk and connect. That when problems arise, they will be dealt with with understanding and cooperation. That doubt and fear will never overpower compassion and selflessness. That the connections of friendship will continue to shape creatures for the better, and help all involved become the best they can be. Just as it did for a stubborn little unicorn one faithful Summer Sun Celebration.
Tumblr media
Which is why Luster Dawn is such an important inclusion. It might seem like an obvious thing to do to have the series come full circle, but that’s why it works. As a way to show that even though friends may move on or change or leave, if you’re willing to work at it, friendship never dies. It expands, it takes on new forms, it influences new people who come into your life, and it manifests in unexpected ways. If you put in the effort, it’s time never ends. Like the song says, the magic of friendship, grows. And I think that message of hope and future potential is what we can take away from the possibility of Immortal Princess Twilight Sparkle.
And hey. At least she’ll still have Discord! That guy doesn’t seem to be going anywhere either.

A Horse Shoe-In - Episode Reaction
Okay, final of the early releases I got access to. Just wanted to get through them to avoid spoilers, like the ones I couldn’t evade completely during early releases in the past that I didn’t had access to.
These release schedules, man.
Anyway, another one I get to go in blind. Let’s do it!
Tumblr media
SPOILERS, duh
I feel called out and barely started the episode.
Oh gosh, their idle animation while Spike goes through the speech, too cute.
Soooo, it gonna be a Starlight freakout episode?
Trouble at home again, eh?
Trixie got a very good point there.
Ooooooooh boi...
Heh, “best pony”
Return of Spoiled Milk Rich! Can she run for vice-headmare on a bigger school, if already running the locale school board for the regular school?
Free labour, unpaid internship, i mean, valuable work experience!
Oh, come on Trixie, you were finally getting better and less grating on me...
Aww, and I worried they would abuse the dumb silent act of Big Mac many writers misused so long, by just him teaching a class with no word in a cringy way. This is nice.
Spoiled went as amount as expected. For somepony already running a school board, I don’t think she has any actual teaching experience, least of all with kids beyond scolding her daughter.
Really liking this Octavia, despite her appearance much less uptight than how fans often imagined her.
Awwwwwww
Even studious Gallus fell asleep in class. Not a good sign.
oh come oooon, Trixie...
I mean, Starlight still shows better stand on favourism than Twilight and Friends, considering their very connection to Twilight got them all sorts of jobs they weren’t necessarily qualified for in the past *CoughRoyalWeddingCOUGH* And still do, despite already having full careers going...
Aww, Octavia talking with the cuddle bugs.
Oh, Doc’s excitement is still adorable.
Aww, Gallus...
Oh dear, the hippogriff quibbling.
*Heavy sigh* ... yess, let’s just go back to pretend Big Mac can only say two words...
At least we get to see one leave with a dignified dismissal. Still a bother writers still insists on running the gag of Big Mac practically being a mute with communication issues, despite in the past shown to be plenty good to communicate. Of course he is a deep think who requires time to share his thoughts, as well as right time and place... so I’ll buy the issue being the parent in question’s too rushed and forward way of talking, that didn’t work well with Mac’s way of communicating. Okay, I’ll buy that.
FINALLY telling Trixie the facts.
Oh come OOOOON Trixie!!
Heh, smoke bomb.
Yas. Yaaaaas.
Aw, Doc, yer tried.
Okay, that IS kind of impressive, at least magic-wise when considering where Trixie started off from.
Oh dear..
Aaand there we have it. Being too soft until she blows up and hurt somepony. Of course Trixie gone done it herself too, being so darn tone deaf she even failed to hear what Starlight said already to her face.
Princess Twilight to the rescue.
I’m voting letting Trixie be the cafeteria lady.
Yes, obviously. But again, Trixie didn’t even make that easy, since she already decided what to think from the start. But yes.
Not Boxing it.
I still dig that sub plot with Gallus. I like one character isn’t from a regular family like everyone else, nor just quiet about any absent family like with Scootaloo’s family in ages because saying orphan was a dirty word on kids shows, until they finally made her a family last season run. Gallus stands out a bit more than way, being confirmed orphan and we get a taste of how different things run in Griffinstone whenever it’s brought up. While showing Gallus still being a great guy and a good friend, with ways to deal with his upbringing by enjoying what he has (fave scene from this season is still how darn easy it is for him to get permissions slips for everything).
... dang, you apply for a job you don’t even think you’ll have time for? Was this just a resume thing for some of the candidates? I mean, besides Spoiled.
I was about to ask about his Crystaller position. But yeah, really ever been shown as more than a glorified babysitting gig anyway?
Oh Trixie, best thing you said all episode.
Ooooooh, somepony gotta replace Starlight, riiiiight
Abrupt ending but on other hand, perfect cut scream gag XD
Not my fave episode nor most bored or least liked. Yeah, Trixie grated on me quite a bit, but not as bad as I feared. Ever since her return to the show as Starlight’s friend, she has found a great balance between her annoying self and the growth that made her more tolerable. It’s a mixed bag, I adore her more than I ever did in the past, her flaws just still causes unnecessary crisis at times.
Still, it was a well done episode for more character focus outside the Mane Six, which they done better and better with these last two seasons.
And works well to keep the momentum forward as we know things are going to change with Twilight’s ascension. So it’s nice to see those changes handled on-screen.
A cute, enjoyable show when you get past the grating parts. And nice to know Sunburst gonna have more reason to stick around Ponyville and his new friends, while not kept stuck in the Crystal Empire anymore.

Tumblr media
Tomorrow, I’ll review the latest MLP Episode. Today, the latest Equestria Girls Special.
Tumblr media
Its Spring Break and the Girls are on a Yacht! Not the Crystal Prep Yacht since this is something Twilight prepared for them, but they do have a concert on the boat. While the others are having a relaxing time (minus Sea Sick AJ), Rainbow Dash is restless since she’s looking to use her powers to defeat Bad Magic.
Tumblr media
This in turns ruins the Cruise for the others. Specifically, Pinkie (because of Dash) is banned from the Buffet just for associating with someone who attacked the chief. Scared all the Animals so the Petting Zoo is now just a Zoo, bumming out Fluttershy. And again, Sea Sick Applejack, who RD is just bugging while she’s trying to avoid barfing (and fails).
Tumblr media
Thanks to a confrontation with Trixie (who performs two shows daily), Rainbow Dash gets an idea. If she wants to find Bad Magic, she needs to convince the others to Pony Up and bring it to them (under the guise of having a Rainbow Light Show during their concert). Also, Rarity meets a guy, but that’s not important.
Rainbow Dash: Just say it! I can take it!
Sunset Shimmer: You're ruining it for everyone!
Rainbow Dash: Ouch! Your words just... punched my feelings.
Sunset Shimmer: You said you could take it.
Sunset seems to convince Rainbow Dash, but she in turn convinced them to try the Rainbow Lasers for the show. And when she does it, the entire ship seem to lose power. Dash thinks its because of Bad Magic while Twilight tries to fix the ship. The others are off doing their own thing. That’s when Dash spots a familiar looking symbol...
Tumblr media
The Symbol of the Storm King. Apparently Storm King is a bigger threat dead than alive. That’s pretty sad. Dash forcefully gathers everyone to show them but the symbol is gone. Twilight believes its a natural thing that Dash saw and an argument leads to Dash going off on her own without the others.
Sunset Shimmer: No one's blaming you for wanting to give us a normal spring break. We'd be having one if it weren't for me. I brought magic to this world in the first place.
The next morning, Twilight is feeling bad for arguing with Dash while Sunset takes an attribute from Peter Parker and blaming herself for them not having a normal spring break. Spoilers, none of this is her fault. It was Dash who was ruining this trip and with a second entrance to Equestria found, the Storm King’s Magic has nothing to do with Sunset’s originally bringing in magic. She is entirely blameless right now. The only way she can have less blame is if she never existed in the first place.
Tumblr media
Speaking of people to properly blame, Rainbow Dash took a lifeboat to find the Bad Magic on her own. Worried, Sunset and Twilight go to try to find her while the others get everything ready for an emergency. Twilight and Sunset find an island and a very informative Parrot confirmed to them that Rainbow Dash is indeed on the island.
Tumblr media
They find Rainbow Dash stuck in quicksand. Dash apologizes for ruining the trip because there is no magic, only to find out there are killer man eating plants. Granted, it could still not be magical, but Sunset figured out the only way to remain safe is to take a dive into the quicksand.
Tumblr media
Because Sunset found out it wasn’t quicksand, but a portal to Equestria covered in a layer of sand. How it didn’t go through the portal I do not know. But the others are taking it well...
Twilight Sparkle: [continues screaming, pants, screams again, screams louder] PONY FACE!
Twilight Sparkle: [gasps] All my things are horse things!
Twilight Sparkle: Sorry, I wasn't listening. Because we're ponies!
Dash seeing this as a way to apologize thinks that this could be their vacation. After all, with the ship not working and the storm logically going to pass by eventually, they got nothing to worry about as they go into Ponyville. So how are the others doing on the boat?
Tumblr media
The storm is making precision aiming, they restored the power only to lose control of the ship and crashing into rocks and they’re sinking because the storm also took out all the frikkin Lifeboats. Again, it is really sad he became more effective dead than alive. Back in Ponyville...
Tumblr media
We were so close of having Prime Dash meet EQ Dash, but Sunset stopped that before it happened. And they eventually go to Twilight’s Castle, where we don’t see the School of Friendship nor Spike’s wings. With that, I believe this is happening during Season 8 Episode 1: before Twilight even started to build the school.
Tumblr media
After at least an hour (20 minute fondue wait, a Spike story about a Dragon Wedding he attended and I assume multiple stories from Twilight), Dash notices the symbol and after remembering there was Lightning, Prime Twilight assumes correctly that the energy the Storm King was wielding wasn’t fully contained in the staff. So apparently he can indeed control Storms.
Tumblr media
But despite being much more threatening, he was still a piece of cake to defeat. Because all the girls have to do was bring the staff to their world and drain that Storm Magic back into it, thus defeating the Storm King once and for all. Dash apologizes to Twilight. Twilight apologizes to Dash. Am I forgetting something?
Tumblr media
Parrot: [squawks] "The ship is still sinking." [squawks]
Thank you Iago. The girls make it to the Yacht and with the others Pony Up, Rainbow Lasers, Light it up and save everyone and every creature on the boat. With all the living creatures safely off the boat and on the island, the only problem is how will they get back home? It ends with Sunset solving the problem quite easily...
Tumblr media
Now she’s thinking with portals. Overall, it was fun. Dash did get annoying in the first half (think how Dash acted in 12 Pranks Later but worse) but in the other half she did get better. But one thing I left with is pretty much a bigger desire than ever before to have the EQ7 meet their Prime versions. We get a small taste of it here but now I hope to see a crossover before the series end. Maybe they somehow get transferred to each other’s world and have to find a way to make it until they can fix it. Or something.
As for how this fits with GLAB, as established on my take on the original Equestria Girls, the Portal to the two worlds were destroyed. But with them discovering yet another one, it’ll be the same until they go through it. Sunset is a little shell shocked because she never expected to be a pony again and Dash convinced them to look around.
Since Sunset never been to Ponyville, she doesn’t know about having to hide. But because they see Rainbow walking and talking with new ponies they don’t suspect nothing of it. It doesn’t last long, as Apple Bloom recognizes Sunset Shimmer during her brief time in the Pony World, captures the three of them before they could do anything.
Sunset apologizes, and Apple Bloom does recognize the Indigo ring on her, but still wishes to play it safe and see if they were indeed telling the truth about their friends being on a boat. In the EQ world, good news, she totally does believe Sunset. Bad news is she recognizes the symbol as being the Storm King. So Sunset becomes an Indigo Lantern while Apple Bloom powers up. The EQ Seven reunite as Apple Bloom takes on the Storm.
As our Green Lantern holds back the storm, she looks in amazement how the other seven are doing. With everyone safe on the island, Apple Bloom turns it loose and unleashes a powerful blast that disperse and destroys the remaining Storm King magic. Since they have no way to get back home, Apple Bloom volunteers to take them back with her ring.
Sunset stops her and volunteers to do it instead. Apple Bloom slowly agrees, saying Sunset does seem like a completely different pony from what she was before. And offers her the right to visit one day if she feels like it. Sunset is thankful, thinking maybe once school is over she could return home.

My Little Pony the Movie (A Review)
Now before I begin this little review, I’m going to explain a little how I got into the show.
I didn’t fully immerse with the MLP fandom until say around the time S2 began I think. My first episode was in Season 2 and then the episode where Rainbow Dash and Rarity enters a flying contest in which Celestia and the Wonderbolts were scheduled to attend (if my memory serves). I was still in high school so I was - shall we say a little hesitant to begin a show about ponies. I never watched the original or any of the previous incarnations beforehand so I went in expecting the show to be like its previous incarnation. But when I saw Rainbow Dash saving Rarity and the other competitors and Twilight freaking out a future possible disaster in Ponyville. I was hooked in an instant, and it took me a while to confess to my family I was watching a show like My Little Pony (a show intended for children).
I don’t think anyone expected a show full of colorful pastel ponies made sorely for kids to become such a hit with grown adults and teenagers. I know I certainly didn’t when I first stepped foot into the fandom after discovering about it through. Though the show had it’s ups and downs with not just the show but the fandom in general. It has wonderful lessons to be learned (and though some may not be directed that great in a certain episode, it’s something that not only kids can learn (but everyone can learn as well).
When the news broke out a film was being made, there was a lot of hype. Right now the film currently holds a whopping 12.7 million. Though I can’t help but ponder if it had been made earlier into the series, it would have garnered more of a success.
I won’t spoil much for those who have seen it. But I will say this, there are a lot of cameos from in show characters even a couple balloon Discord cameos. Cheese Sandwich makes a silent re-appearance in the beginning, you’d have to have a pretty good eye to see your favorite background and secondary characters. And yes, Starlight with Trixie also makes a cameo but they’re both non speaking. It's a blink and miss if you want to see your favorite characters.
-Cons-
-I think to fully enjoy this movie you would need to be familiarized with the prime characters. Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Spike, Applejack and Fluttershy. Alongside this generation of My Little Pony, if you are not familiar with the show or My Little Pony in general, you will be completely lost. However out of all the seven main characters that actually have lines both Fluttershy and Applejack gets the least amount of lines whereas Pinkie Pie actually is bearable in this film for a change and gets among the most lines aside from Twilight. And as for Spike?..well he manages to do some shit in the action scenes, but he’s mostly there for comedic effect and moral support he doesn’t do much.
-No guards. Uhhh Shining Armor? You know your wife and baby sister is probably is in serious danger right? Where the hell were you and your guards when the four princesses of Equestria were attacked? Stuck babysitting Flurry Heart or something? Did all of your guards have babysitting duties? What’s the pony term for being drunk? Do ponies even get drunk? Or are the guards really that easy to capture?
-You’d probably have to be familiar with the newer characters like Captain Celaeneo, Capper, Tempest Shadow and the Storm King by reading the prequel book, (if you could understand what was going on with their pasts - great) and how they got to be where they are in the films.
-A lot of people (and myself included) have rather disliked Twilight’s rather..out of character traits she is shown to be in this movie. Unlike how she’s presented in the seven seasons and the Equestria Girls spin-off, here she’s shown to revert back to her Season 1 self. However, I personally like Silver Quill’s explanation on his brief review of the MLP movie - even if I’m still rather mixed on how it was presented. However, there will be spoilers in that review, (skip to 6:00 mark for his thoughts on Twilight's actions in the film).
- The villain song, (while one of the film’s best songs) - the choreographic could have been a little better.
-Michael Peña’s character Grubber, while very funny in the movie. I felt like he could have been left out of the movie. He wasn’t annoying per-say (though to others he may be.) He was basically there for what Spike was - comedic support. (While having supporting comedic characters - good and bad, isn’t bad per-say it’s just how they’re handled in the films or tv shows that can end up either good or bad.) If he was left out, I feel like there could’ve been done more with the movie but that’s just me.
-Pros-
-The film’s musical score and the fantastic vocal performances done by the main cast including the voice acting done by Andrea Libman and Tara Strong as well as Pinkie’s singing voice Shannon Chan- Kent. This film is certainly lets them give their all within this movie and more room to explore with their characters. Pinkie Pie is also presented in a MUCH better light than she had been recently.
- The musical songs done by the guest cast makes it even less like a typical MLP episode. However that’s what makes it so good. However, I do wish there was enough time for one more song from the mane six or just one or two of the mane six. I’m also rather disappointed we didn’t get the full version of “Ponies Got the Beat”.
- The world building in this movie is an improvement, while we do get a bit of world building with every new episode of MLP. We get it even more here and it’s more of a steampunk-ish type world. We also get to see new creatures like humanoid parrots, cats, and Sea Ponies.
-The return of 2D animation was simply beautiful in Toon Boom Harmony, and though I enjoy the flash animation in the show, it’s a little better here. It really shines when we are introduced to the Sea Ponies and the song “One Small Thing” begins.
- Tempest Shadow is ten times better than Starlight Glimmer’s backstory any day. While I’m slowly growing and accepting Starlight’s in the show (despite me rather mixed with how Starlight was handled), Tempest Shadow was far better, and Emily Blunt did a fantastic job voicing her throughout the film.
- The Storm King I love, (I don’t want to give away much) but he reminds me a bit of Hades from Disney’s Hercules.
- Capper was an interesting character, probably one of my favorites next to Tempest, Captain Celaeno and the Storm King.
Favorite songs:
Time To Be Awesome
Open Up Your Eyes
We Got This
One Small Thing
I’m the Friend in Need
Favorite new characters:
Tempest Shadow
Captain Celaeno
Capper
The Storm King
Princess Skystar And no the Sea Ponies don’t do this;
youtube
If I have to give the film an overall grade I’d give it a solid B or a 8.5/10. The film is good though has a quite of obvious flaws that could’ve been improved. But whether you are a fan of this show, or a fan of animated movies in general. It’s a must see. But..it may be better seeing it when the film comes out on DVD instead of going to the theater or watching the leaked version online.
